So, Monday … Violet & Gwenny went off to playscheme, with keys and phones and instructions, as I was going out for lunch and wasn’t going to see them until much later. I did about 5 minutes work with Ernest but he wasn’t in the mood, so we stopped. Buttercup wanted to look at her maths sticker book, so we ended up doing lots of times table stuff, and she has nearly finished it. (Now I need to remember where I put the next one when I got back from Melrose!)

We were a little later going out than planned due to Buttercup’s enthusiasm, lol, but we were at H’s before 11.30. Ernest & Buttercup always like going there, and play well with her two. She now has the added draw of chickens and, this week, 2 fostered rescue kittens who are gorgeous :) Had good chat and very nice lunch, and then we went round to her allotment (which is about a minute’s walk up the road - handy!) for a few berries, peas & beans. I found the allotment kind of appealling and pondered on whether my hatred of gardening would actually be overcome by the useful and tasty product. Still pondering. I really do hate gardening - got rid of our strawberry plants as they drove me mad.

Then we picked loads of blackberries just outside the allotments and returned. The kids had time for another quick play, and then we came home. Was surprised to find Violet at home - she hadn’t gone back to playscheme with Gwenny after lunch. Bimbled about, Gwenny came home, and we went over to my parents for dinner.

Left the kids there, talking to my mum and dad about various things (Buttercup to my dad: “I have been studying Pascal’s triangle.” ), and I took Dylan for a walk along the river for an hour or so. C arrived in time for a lovely roast beef dinner, and we came home, leaving Violet & Ernest there for the night.

Tuesday morning I got up, realised there was no paper and I wanted to print out some worksheets for a tutoring session at 11am. So Gwenny, Buttercup & I went over to Staples and picked up notebooks and stickers too :) Home, Gwenny went off to playscheme, I started a pile of stuff printing, and Buttercup made a shaker from a Pringles tube and a variety of dried pulses.

Then she wanted to do more of her times table stuff, so she did another few pages of stickers (and writing a few numbers). Earlier, looking for paper, I’d found an exercise book - the kind with the top half of the page blank, and the bottom half lined. Buttercup is doing loads of writing (pretend writing and also copying/taking dictation) and drawing atm. I suggested I write a word in this exercise book, she copy it, and then draw a picture of whatever it is at the top - she thought that was a good idea :) I asked her whether she wanted to choose the first word, or whether I should - she chose ‘dog’, copied it well and drew a cute picture of a dalmatian. Then she wanted me to write ‘Mix’, which is the name of an animal she had drawn the night before - called that because it is a mix of dog, cat, unicorn, dragon, bird and Eeyore. And it poos a lot. So we did that too :)

Then it was time for my student, so put the telly on for her and did 45 minutes teaching. That was fine. Gwenny came home for lunch, and my mum popped round to say she’d bring the other two back later. Gwenny was really tired, so didn’t go back to playscheme in the afternoon. Buttercup & I chatted for a bit and I wrote in her diary for her :) Then we took Dylan for a walk, leaving Gwenny at home, having promised not to go to sleep! Had a good walk and a play in a playground.

Home, my mum brought the other two back, I made jam (blackberry & apple) and pastry and then jam tarts. Then cooked dinner (tofu stir fry) - it’s nice, now the kids are bigger we can often leave dinner till a bit later, and then C is home so we can all eat together. Over dinner Violet, Gwenny and Ernest started doing the fraction worksheets that were still on the table from the morning’s tutoring.

Put the kids to bed, with more Number Devil (Buttercup successfully worked out how many combinations there are of 3 things out of 4 - hardly seems possible that my baby is capable of logical thought  ) and Prince Caspian for the younger 3. Then spent ages with Violet as she rewrote and refined a book review to enter into this competition.

Today we are going to a ‘Play Day’ at a local park - supposed to be loads of sports and activities available from 10-4, and it’s all free. So spending the morning up there, and then I am tutoring at 2pm.
